In Sketch Comedy Acting 1, you'll learn to bring sketch comedy to life and access your own theatrical instincts through The KML Way: Intuition, Dedication, and Collaboration.

Our professional directors will guide you through the fundamental skills of comedy: building truth and believability in character creation, discovering "the game" within every sketch, making quick choices in cold reads, collaborating with your scene partner, better utilizing your voice and body for performance, telling a story though your staging, and setting up the perfect conditions for uncensored spontaneity and discovery.  Expect a supportive and judgement-free environment where you can learn to trust yourself as a performer, and have a fabulous time doing it.

At the end of the six week course, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your sharper, fiercer comedic skills for a welcoming audience.  In addition, students will receive a discount code for a $5 ticket to the current KML show of the month.  Whether you're looking to work in sketch comedy professionally or just want to expand your performance skills, we're here to help you make that happen.

BEFORE YOU SIGN UP:

  • All students and instructors are required to provide proof of vaccination and 1 booster before the start of class.

  • Students should expect to spend 1-2 hours per week on memorization and character development outside of class.

  • Attendance is a big part of our collaborative environment. Please make sure that you will be able to attend all classes so that everyone can rehearse their scenes.

  • KML cannot issue refunds for classes.

  • In the event of a class cancellation for any reason, course credit will be reapplied to another class of your choosing, with no time limitation.

  • In the event a student has to drop a class, KML can transfer course credit to another class within 6 months of the dropped class. In order for the course credit to be reapplied, you must notify KML at least 7 days prior to the first day of the class for which you originally signed up.

  • Transferring class credit will not be honored after the class has already started.

  • If a student misses two classes or more, they are automatically dropped from that session. The student is welcome to enroll in future classes, but their enrollment in the previous session will not rollover into the next session and the student will be expected to pay for the new session in full.

  • All acting students are required to attend and participate in the final class performance.

*Killing My Lobster reserves the right to refuse admission to any class at our discretion.

*Note that classes tend to fill up quickly, as we keep the class size manageable to be sure each student has a full experience. The deadline to sign up for a class is 72 hours before the class begins. If you wish to sign up, but the deadline has passed, contact admin@killingmylobster.com to be placed on a waitlist.
